This project began with a simple but transformative goal: to reimagine a cramped, outdated kitchen and reclaim valuable living space by relocating an awkwardly positioned bathroom. Originally cut off from the living room, the kitchen lacked both flow and functionality. Our design approach centered on a complete spatial reconfiguration, creating an open and inviting layout that better supports modern living.

A new peninsula anchors the kitchen and connects seamlessly to a built-in banquette, establishing a natural gathering point. Fully custom cabinetry, finished in Farrow & Ball’s Carriage Green, brings depth and character and is complemented by new appliances, as well as hardware and pendant lighting from Rejuvenation. A zellige tile backsplash and wall accent from Zia Tile introduce texture and variation, while walnut open shelving with brass gallery rails adds warmth and a refined, tactile contrast.

The aesthetic draws from a layered mix of influences, blending the charm of farmhouse and cottage traditions with the elegance of turn-of-the-century New York interiors. Generous moldings and subtle plaster details lend a sense of timelessness, resulting in a space that feels both curated and comfortably lived-in.

In the new bathroom, efficiency meets luxury. Within a compact footprint, we incorporated a custom six-foot walnut double vanity, a dedicated toilet room with applied moldings, and a spacious shower. Casa Blanca tile from Zia Tile lines the walls, paired with a classic black and white octagon mosaic floor, creating a bathroom that is both highly functional and visually striking.
